LIFE PROCESSES                                 18.04.2017

Q1. Define life processes and name them.
Ans- The different processes which are performed by living organisms to maintain their life on earth , those processes are termed as life processes.

Following are the processes-

  1. Ingestion
  2. Digestion
  3. Absorption
  4. Assimilation
  5. Excretion
Q2. Why is nutrition , respiration, transportation and excretion necessary?
Ans - These processes are necessary because -
Digestion - This is a vital process which helps the living organisms to obtain energy.
Respiration- It helps in exchange of gases.
Transportation- It is important because it transports food to whole body via blood .
Excretion- It is important as it helps to remove the undigested and toxic substances from the body.

HUMAN DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

Image result for a simple diagram of digestive system

Mouth- It includes-
  1. Teeth- They help in chewing and mastication of food.
  2. Tongue- Mixes the food along with saliva.
  3. Salivary glands- It secretes saliva.
Oesophagus- Transports food from mouth to stomach by peristaltic movement.

  • Types of teeth- There are 4 types of teeth-
  • Molars- grinding of food
  • Premolars- grinding of food
  •  Canines- tearing
  • Incisors- biting

 NUTRITION IN AMOEBA
Habitat- Aquatic
Structure- Unicellular without a definite shape and is controlled by nucleus.

Mode of nutrition- Holozoic mode of nutrition

HOMEWORK                                            28-04-2017
                                                 LIFE PROCCESES

Q1) Difference between Starch and Sugar?
Ans) Both Starch and Sugar are the form of carbohydrates, the only difference in both of these are that sugar are simple carbohydrtaes while starch are the complex carbohydrates.

Q2) What is the function of salivary amylase?
Ans) Fuction of Salivary amylase is to digest carbohydrates from the food and the name suggest it is present in the mouth in our saliva.

Q3) What is the Ph level of our mouth?
Ans) The Ph level in our mouth is around 6.75 to 7.25.

Q4) What is the function of HCl, Mucus, and Gastric Juice secreted in Stomach?
Ans) HCl is used to digest the proteins with the help of gastric Juice in the bolus.
Mucus protects the kining of stomach which can be damaged by the action of gastric juices.
Gastric Juice secrets a important component like inactivated pepsin which is activated by the                action of HCl and therefore leds to digestion of proteins from the food material.

1.   What are the different types of life process?
Answer:    The different types of life process are:
                    1. Respiration
                    2. Digestion
                    3. Transportation
                    4. Excretion
                    5. Nutrition

 2. Define Autotrophic nutrition.

Answer:    Autotrophic Nutrition means the type of Nutrition in which the organisms make their own food. The process by which these organisms make their food is known as Photosynthesis and this process is performing by green plants and green algae.

   3.  Define Heterotrophic Nutrition.

Answer:      It is the type Nutrition in which the organisms do not make their own food and hence they are dependent on other organisms for food. Example - Human, animal, and Bird etc.

4. What are the various steps of photosynthesis?

Answer:    steps involve in the process of photosynthesis are:
1. The green pigment present in the leaves of the green plant called  chlorophyll traps the sunlight in the leaves.
2. The step change the light of the sun into energy which help to start the process of making food.
3. Then the root take up all the nutrients and water from the soil to the leaves and then the leave mix the water, Nutrient and carbon dioxide  make food.

ACTIVITY NUMBER  1

1) To study the peristaltic movement in our food pipe (Oesophagus ) by using a Tyre tube .

OBJECTIVE : To study the Peristaltic Movement in food pipe .

MATERIAL REQUIRED  : 1)
Tyre tube
                                         2)Some wet soil

PROCEDURE  :

a)First take the Tyre tube and cut it from a point to make it a circular pipe
b)Put the soil into the pipe from end of the Tyre
c)Then try to move the soil downward by the method of contraction and expansion
d)Do the same method ,to move the soil downwards

OBSERVATION  -
We have observed that mud came out from the pipe  by the method of    contraction  and expansion is the same process by which the food that we take reaches to our stomach from the Buccal cavity and this process of contraction and expansion called peristaltic movement .
