LIFE PROCESSES

Q1- What are the different types of life processes?

A1- Some different life processes are:-
  1. Respiration
  2. Digestion
  3. Excretion
  4. Movement
  5. Growth
  6. Reproduction

Q2- Define autotrophic nutrition.

A2- Auto means self or automatic, nutrition means the process of providing nutrition to someone or oneself. Hence, autotrophic nutrition means the type of nutrition in which an organism arranges nutrition for itself without being dependent on any external body. They perform the process of creating their own food with the help of a process called photosynthesis.
Some organisms having autotrophic nutrition are green plants (mostly) and some algae.

Q3- Define heterotrophic nutrition?

A3- Heterotrophic nutrition is the type of nutrition where an organism is unable to make it’s own food and has to be dependent on external bodies to obtain food. Such organisms are directly or indirectly dependent on autotrophs for obtaining their food.
Examples of such organisms are human beings, fungi, fish, birds etc.

Q4- What are the functions of stomata?

A4- Stomata provide the following functions in a plant:-
  1. Help in the exchange of gases during the process of photosynthesis.
  2. Help in transpiration and plants are also able to control the amount of transpiration done by altering the opening size of the stomatal pores.
