Q1. Define life processes and name them.
Ans- The different processes which are performed by living organisms to maintain their life on earth , those processes are termed as life processes.

Following are the processes-

  1. Ingestion
  2. Digestion
  3. Absorption
  4. Assimilation
  5. Excretion
Q2. Why is nutrition , respiration, transportation and excretion necessary?
Ans - These processes are necessary because -
 Digestion - This is a vital process which helps the living organisms to obtain energy.
 Respiration- It helps in exchange of gases.
 Transportation- It is important because it transports food to whole body via blood .
 Excretion- It is important as it helps to remove the undigested and toxic substances from the body.

HUMAN DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

Mouth- It includes-
  1. Teeth- They help in chewing and mastication of food.
  2. Tongue- Mixes the food along with saliva.
  3. Salivary glands- It secretes saliva.
Oesophagus- Transports food from mouth to stomach by peristaltic movement.

  • Types of teeth- There are 4 types of teeth-
  • Molars- grinding of food
  • Premolars- grinding of food
  •  Canines- tearing
  • Incisors- biting

 NUTRITION IN AMOEBA
Habitat- Aquatic
Structure- Unicellular without a definite shape and is controlled by nucleus.

Mode of nutrition- Holozoic mode of nutrition

Ans- The dark reaction takes place in the stroma .

Ans- Grana are many thylakoids in the chloroplast which is a organelle present in plants.

Q1. Difference between starch and sugar.
Ans- Starch- They are hundreds of sugar molecule linked together i.e it is a complex carbohydrate.
Sugar- It is a simple molecule and a fast acting carbohydrate.

Q2. What is the function of salivary amylase?
Ans- It is a enzyme responsible for breakdown of starch into carbohydrates.

  2. Ans- The pH of mouth is 6.8.

Q4. What is the function of Hcl , mucus and secreted in the stomach?
 Ans- The function of Hcl is -
  1. It kills ingested bacteria.
  2. It provides acidic medium for protein digestion.
  3. It splits nucleoproteins into nucleic acids and proteins.
Functions of mucus-
Its purpose is to coat the passageways of the nose, throat , sinuses and keeping them from becoming dry.
